Write-up The Gan Eng Seng School Drama Club provides interested pupils with the opportunity to hone and develop their talents and interests in theatre through regular performances and competitions. The Drama Club has a strong track record of stretching the potential of Gessians. In 2008, club members staged their first-ever black box production. The hard work and passion of all involved translated into a satisfying and well-received performance. The club maintained a Silver Award at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judgings in 2007 and 2009. Club members learnt much from each other and from the memorable experiences. Enrichment activities are also conducted regularly. This year, members have caught 'Celebrate Drama!' at the Arts House, 'Threesome' at Republic Polytechnic, and look forward to a pantomime performance in November. They have also been attending meaningful and enriching CCA camps and drama workshops during the holidays, organised by the club executive committee members and facilitated by Senior Gessians. Members have continued their stagecraft training under the guidance of their instructor and teachers, bagging a Merit Award at the National Crime Prevention Skit and taking part in the ACJC Physical Theatre Festival. It was satisfying to see numerous rehearsals translate into credible performances. The club also performed as part of the Asian Youth Games school celebrations. The members look forward to more learning opportunities in the years to come. Onward GESSIANS! |
