The Ministry of Education (MOE) school year calendar and school holidays are different to Singapore international schools following an August to June school year calendar. Singapore MOE schools follow a January to November school year which is similar to schools in Australia and New Zealand.
Singapore MOE School Holidays
The Singapore MOE school holiday calendar is divided into four terms. The first term begins in early January and runs until March, followed by a brief vacation. The second term commences in late March or early April and concludes in May, leading to a mid-year break.
The third term kicks off in late May or early June and extends until August. The final term starts in early September and lasts until November or early December. After this term, students have an end-of-year break.

MOE primary and secondary School Exams
In Singapore, primary and secondary school students undergo regular assessments and examinations as part of the education system. The examination schedule may vary slightly among schools, but the following is a general overview:
Primary School Examinations:
- End-of-Year Examinations: Towards the end of the academic year, usually in October or November, primary school students take their end-of-year examinations. These exams cover the entire year's syllabus and serve as a comprehensive assessment of the students' knowledge and skills. Students in Primary 6 (P6), take the Primary School Leaving Exam (PSLE).
Secondary School Examinations:
- Mid-Year Examinations: Secondary school students typically have mid-year examinations around May or June. These exams assess their understanding of the subjects studied in the first semester.
- End-of-Year Examinations (End-of-Year or Final Exams): Secondary school students undergo end-of-year examinations, often in October or November. These exams cover the entire year's curriculum and play a crucial role in determining students' promotion to the next academic level.
- National Examinations for Secondary 4 and 5 Students: Secondary 4 and 5 students, usually in the Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical) streams, take national examinations. The main national exams are the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level (O-Level) for Secondary 4 students and the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level (N-Level) for Secondary 5 students.
